Background

Sarasvati, sAradha and bhArati are three different names of the same entity. They are all recognized as 'goddess of knowledge'. 

In thermodynamic term, they are the entropy or indication of micro-states of matter. In information theory, they are information content. In consciousness term, they are the knowledge.

The three aspects of Entropy (sarasvati, sAradha, bhArati)

Entropy has 3 different aspects. They are

1. Entropy is one parameter that keeps expanding always. saras means that is flowing or moving continuously or expanding (for eg., like a body of water). Sarasvat is entropy that is continuously expanding. In that it is Sarasvati

2. Entropy indicates state information, the state in which a matter form exists. It is the information content or state information 'borne' by that matter form. In that it is bhArati. 'bhArati' is that bears this state of information.

3. Entropy is an arrow of time or that continuously matures in time. zarad indicates the time of maturing or ripening (autumn). zArada is anything that matures.  In that time-maturing it is sAradA.

sAradha - Ever maturing entropy

sAradha is this maturing over time, the entropy that keeps flowing, information content or knowledge one of the aspect of sarasvati.

Adi Shankara calls this sAradha, as one who remains as our 'mother' always. He describes the characteristics of sAradhA in eight stanzas.

Eight attributes of entropy

1. Residue that is the base of all matter and beings
2. That never sleeps or is always active, ever changing
3. Like beads-counting, makes 'past' by its small movements
4. Stirs welfare of all, is the blissful thought
5. peacefully spreads inside all, like a creeper endlessly beyond perception
6. Present in the same way in all - as micro-states of energy of matter particles
7. wanders, dances like a bee around all the 'hearts' of matter and biological beings, as continuously changing energy states.
8. Is the never born 'eye' or 'internal eye' or inconceivable part in all.

The above are characteristics of entropy.  Entropy is the indication of states of a matter form at any point of time.

Entropy is the 'residue' or unusable part of energy in all matter forms. It changes continuously and hence never 'sleeps'. Because of it continuous change it becomes an arrow of time. Counting of beads in a 'japa-mala' is this arrow of time, which indicates 'past' by small movements. By its continuous change and being arrow of time, it stirs welfare in all. It is like a endless, peaceful/silent creeper beyond perception inside all. It is present in the same way inside all (sAma rupa).  Like a bee that dances, glitters around lotus, the matter states keep changing inside all 'hearts' of matter forms. Since it is silent, inconceivable, but continuously changing and causing welfare of all, it is the unborn eye in all.

Summary of sAradha bhujangam

mA sAradhA is the kumbha filled with welfare, out of which prosperity flows, the residue in all that supports/shelters all good deeds, with moon-lit face and shiny lips. She is our eternal mother.

mA sAradhA creates the impression of jnAna through her glance, which is awake in all matter forms creating auspiciousness. Thus she is the same stri in the banks of tungabhadra who is said to never sleep. She is our eternal mother.

mA sAradhA who is marked by glittering singing light of the curved forehead, the only protector of the devoted, wealth and fame being her cheeks, with small movements makes the past, is our eternal mother.

mA sAradhA conquers our eye-sight with her center parted hair, speech like a parrot who is submitted to by Indra (who wields the vajra), who stirs welfare as a play, manifests as blissful thought in all.

mA sAradhA is present peacefully in all forms that arise out of the matted hair. She spreads like a shining creeper inside inconceivably and endlessly. She is the present before the expression inside all that does tapas/penance/undergoes heat. She is the eternal mother.

mA sAradhA is present in the same way in all the nine forms she rides like monkey, horse, lion, peacock, swan, intoxicated elephant, bull etc.

mA sAradhA is the vehicle carrying flames that attract the matter and beings of Universe, wanders like a bee around the lotus-heart of all, in the form of dancing, singing with music.

mA sAradhA is the unborn lotus eye that manifests in all, as everything submits to her, with a gentle shining smile, effulgent face caused by flickering movements that decorates her ears.

Summary of science behind sAradhA bhujangam

Ever maturing entropy causes all the growth, welfare, is the residue that bears all matter and all good deeds of Universe. Hence it is the 'eternal mother'.

Ever maturing entropy causes the 'information content' that is 'awake' in all matter forms, that never sleeps.

Ever maturing entropy is an arrow of time as it is not reversible. The small movements of change of state makes everything the past.

Ever maturing entropy stirs the welfare of all as a play, is submitted to by all matter forms, manifests as blissful thought.

Ever maturing entropy is inside all matter forms inconceivably, spreads endlessly, is situated in all matter forms with heat, even before they are involved in creation.

Ever maturing entropy is present in the same way in all forms.

Ever maturing entropy is the vehicle for all energy transactions in the matter and beings. Inside all matter and beings, the micro-states of matter forms wander/keep changing  like a bee dancing, singing musically around the lotus.

Ever maturing entropy is 'unborn' (not perceived outside), manifests in all, with continuously changing movements of micro-states in all matter forms.

Growth born of kumba (suvaksoja kumbham), filled with welfare (sudha purna kumbham) is the residual/gift of shelter/support (prasada avalambam) support of all good deeds (prapunya avalambam) face that reflects moon (sada asya indu bimbaam) always reflecting lips (sada ostha bimbaam) hail that sharadamba (bhaje saradhambaa) eternally our mother (ajasram mad ambaam)

With a center parting of hair (su-simanta venim) that conquers our eyes (drsa nirjita enim), speaks like a parrot (ramat kira vanim) submitted to by the one who wields vajra (namad vajra pani) stirs welfare as a play (sudha manta raasyaam) blissful thought (muda cintya venim) hail that sharadamba (bhaje saradhambaa) eternally our mother (ajasram mad ambaam)

Peacefully in all forms (sushantaam sudehaam) endless matted hair of hers wherever seen (drg-ante kaca-antam) in the forms of shining creeper (last sat latangim) endless (anantam) inconeivable (actinyam) in the memory of who does penance/tapas  (smaraam taapasaih) you are situated before creation/expression (sarga-purva sthitam taam) hail that sharadamba (bhaje saradhambaa) eternally our mother (ajasram mad ambaam)

Rides on (adhi ruddham) monkey (kurange), horse (turange), lion (mrgendra), peacock (khagendra), swan (maraala), intoxicated elephants (mad ibha), bulls (maha uksa) in power (mahatyaam) nine forms (navaamyaam) in the same way in all forms (sadaa saama rupaam) hail that sharadamba (bhaje saradhambaa) eternally our mother (ajasram mad ambaam)
